Our Vision
To build a strong, ethical, and sustainable direct selling ecosystem in Nepal by empowering individuals with leadership, guidance, and opportunities to achieve long-term success and a secure future through direct selling.
Direct selling is a business model where companies sell products and services directly to consumers. It is used by many global and local brands to offer items such as health products, cosmetics, agriculture products, household goods, energy, and more.
Unlike traditional retail, direct selling also creates business opportunities for individuals. People can work independently with low start-up costs while being connected to a company. Direct selling consultants build their business through personal relationships, product demonstrations, and direct communication, both offline and online.
Many people join direct selling because they like the products and enjoy buying them at a discount. Others choose to share these products with friends and family to earn commissions. With growth and experience, successful consultants can build a network and create long-term income opportunities.
Direct selling began centuries ago when traders and merchants sold goods directly to customers in their homes and communities. Before the rise of large retail stores, most products were sold through personal contact and word of mouth.
In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, direct selling became more organized. Companies started using trained representatives to demonstrate products such as household items, books, and personal care products. This model allowed businesses to reach customers more personally and build trust.
After World War II, direct selling expanded rapidly, especially in the United States and Europe. Well-known companies adopted the model, offering flexible income opportunities to individuals, including homemakers and entrepreneurs.
With the growth of the internet and social media, direct selling evolved into a modern, global industry. Today, it combines personal relationships with digital tools, creating millions of income opportunities worldwide and playing a key role in entrepreneurship and community development.
Direct selling in Nepal began in the late 1990s and early 2000s as Nepali individuals exposed to international markets introduced the model through personal networks, home meetings, and product demonstrations, mainly in health, nutrition, and household products. The model gained popularity due to low start-up costs, flexible work opportunities, and rising interest in self-employment, especially among youth and homemakers. A major milestone was achieved on 2077/03/19 (B.S.), when the Government of Nepal legally recognized and regulated direct selling through official guidelines, clearly distinguishing genuine product-based businesses from illegal pyramid schemes. This legal framework improved transparency, protected consumers and distributors, and strengthened public trust, helping direct selling grow into a recognized sector contributing to entrepreneurship, leadership development, and economic empowerment in Nepal.
The future of direct selling is promising and expected to grow steadily as consumers increasingly seek personalized experiences, quality products, and flexible business opportunities. With advancements in digital technology and social media, direct sellers can reach wider markets, build stronger customer relationships online, and streamline sales and training processes. In Nepal, as awareness, legal clarity, and entrepreneurial interest increase, direct selling is likely to attract more youth and homemakers seeking alternative income sources. Continued emphasis on ethical practices, transparent operations, and regulatory compliance will further strengthen the industry’s credibility. As a result, direct selling is positioned to expand both economically and socially, contributing to self-employment, leadership development, financial inclusion, and community growth.
